Curious about how our little adventure started? It all began when my best friend Des and I were on an amazing American road trip back in 2017. We stumbled upon this fun bench that looked just like a dog, and that sparked a brilliant idea! We began dreaming about starting our own business together, and during the trip, we had fun brainstorming different ways to bring that idea to life. That’s how Sit-U Ltd was born!
When we got back to the UK, we rolled up our sleeves and got to work on our very first bench. After a few prototypes (7 to be precise), we finally found a design that we absolutely adored. Our first creation was inspired by the elegant Greyhound, and it’s been such a hit with fellow Greyhound lovers who appreciate everything related to their beloved pets.
From that first Greyhound bench we went on to broaden our offerings by including charming Labrador benches, delightful Horse benches, and so much more to meet our customers’ wishes! By 2019, we had created a wonderful selection of handcrafted benches, each one made with love and the highest quality in mind.
To boost our visibility, we teamed up with The Greyhound Trust to help spread the word about our benches! In return, we donated 10% of each sale generated back to the Trust as a thank you for their support. This partnership has been fantastic, and we’ve been continuing our collaboration with them ever since! We absolutely love supporting charities, and we’re also now proud to partner with The Forever Hounds Trust, Tia Rescue, and many other wonderful organisations!
Reflecting back on 2022, it was a year that brought profound sorrow when we lost Des after a brief illness. The news felt like a heavy cloud, casting a shadow over all of us who cherished him. Des was my best friend and had an unwavering dream for Sit-U, a dream he held close to his heart, and he always encouraged me to make it a resounding success. As I step forward to honour his memory and continue this journey, I carry with me the cherished moments we shared, grateful for the legacy he left behind and the inspiration that continues to drive me.
We collaborate with a fantastic group of reliable suppliers to create our benches. They handle everything from cutting the metal to providing the wood and powder-coating / painting the finished products. Together, we contribute to the ongoing success of Sit-U
