Deciding between a painted finish and a powder-coated finish for your bench involves several considerations, and we hope this information assists you in making your choice.

Painted Finish

Choosing a painted finish (wet sprayed finish) is usually more budget-friendly, but it might not withstand the unpredictable UK weather as well. Although a painted bench can't promise to be entirely rust-proof forever, some wear over time could lead to rust. However, we do apply a zinc phosphate primer and a matt top coat to maximise its durability. The bright side is that taking care of a painted bench is simple and economical; you can easily source materials from your local DIY store to sand away any rust and apply metal paint to give it a fresh look.

Powder-Coated Finish

On the other hand, a powder-coated finish is significantly more resilient against the elements due to its tough, hardened properties. However, if the powder-coating gets damaged or scratched, it’s best to re-coat the entire metal part to ensure a uniform look. While black powder-coated touch-up paint is available, keep in mind that if the area needing touch-ups is large, any slight colour mismatch could be noticeable.

To keep your bench in top shape, consider covering it during the colder winter months. A quick application of oil or stain once or twice a year will go a long way in preserving those beautiful wooden slats!

Can you tell me the delivery cost?

The delivery charge for our beautiful benches to the UK Mainland is only £95.00. If you're interested in shipping to other areas, no problem! The shipping cost will be calculated during the checkout process.

Do you accept returns?

We’re thrilled that you appreciate our benches! Each one is made specifically for our customers, often with unique personal touches. Because of this, we cannot accept returns unless there is a fault with your bench (which we sincerely hope doesn’t happen!).

Delivery

All of our benches will arrive fully assembled (unless you specify otherwise), so all you need to do is place the bench in your desired spot, relax, and enjoy!

Timescales

We collaborate with a fantastic group of local suppliers who work hard to help create our benches. However, this means we sometimes need to align with their production timelines. Therefore, please allow about 4-6 weeks for your bench to be delivered. If you need it sooner, feel free to reach out, and we’ll do our best to accommodate your request.

Metal & Workmanship

We’re excited to share that all products from Sit-U Ltd come with a one-year guarantee starting from the date of your complete payment! This warranty covers any structural defects caused by poor materials or workmanship related to the mild steel used. Just a friendly reminder, though—regular wear and tear or any damage incurred isn’t covered. Thanks for choosing us!

Painted & Coated Finish

While items with a painted finish may not be as durable as those that are powder-coated, they are still a viable option, albeit with a higher susceptibility to environmental factors. Over time, rust can develop on painted surfaces; however, unlike powder-coated items that may need a full respray, you can easily touch up a painted finish using the appropriate paint protection product available at any DIY store. To provide peace of mind, we offer a six-month guarantee on all our painted products in case rust appears during this period.

A Powder-Coated finish is more durable and weather resistant then a painted finish, and for this reason we offer a 12 month guarantee on all our powder-coated products in case rust appears during this period

It's important to note that this warranty does not cover normal wear and tear or any damage that affects the integrity of the painted or powder-coated finish.

Wood

The colour and staining of wooden bench slats can change over time due to exposure to UV rays, and this process is influenced by the specific environment where the wood is situated. As a result, our guarantee does not the wood supplied with your bench.

We utilise premium, durable hardwood slats for all our benches, designed to withstand the varying seasonal conditions of British weather. Additionally, each piece of wood is treated with a high-quality wood preserver before delivery, providing protection against rain, UV damage, and wood-boring insects.
